The short term student visa is for students who are studying for short periods of time at a Tier 4 institution. For a period of study less than 6 months, as a non-visa national, the applicant is not required to apply for and have obtained a visa before entering the UK. However, if you are planning to study for longer than 6 months, you must apply for your short-term study visa before coming to the UK and not on arrival at the airport.

- On a short-term student, students cannot do any kind of work, work placement or work experience during thier studies in the UK;
will not be allowed to bring family to the UK as thier dependants.

- The Short Term Study visa falls within the ‘visitor’ category of visas for the UK.
The Short Term Study visa is issued for a maximum of 6 monthsStudents or 11 months for English language courses, and cannot be extended and will expire on the date stated on the visa.
