The UK Government has plans for major updates to VISA Application Centres (VACS), which are centres that handle visa applications on behalf of UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration).

These centres, which manage visa applications on behalf of UKVI, are operated by third-party commercial partners, often referred to as ‘suppliers.’ However, from September 2024 to January 2025, certain locations will experience a change in the commercial partners overseeing these services.

Although these changes might seem significant, they are aimed at creating a more streamlined and efficient visa application process. By staying updated and following UKVI’s guidance, you can navigate the transition smoothly.

Changes for applications outside the UK

For visa applications submitted outside the UK, the commercial partner in certain regions – specifically parts of Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia – will switch from TLScontact to VFS Global. Other regions will not be affected by this change. If the change occurs while an application is in progress, applicants will receive emails from both TLScontact and VFS Global, providing instructions on any additional actions required to continue processing their application.

Changes for applications inside the UK

For those applying within the UK, the commercial partner responsible for UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services (UKVCAS) will change from Sopra Steria to TLScontact on 15 October 2024. Fortunately, the decision on your application, processing delays, or the availability of appointments will not be affected by this change, so there is no need for you to take any specific action.

Considerations for Applicants and Employers

During the transition period, visa applicants should carefully monitor their emails for communications from both TLScontact and VFS Global. To remain informed about specific changes, you are advised to register for email alerts on the Home Office website.

If the change impacts your application, you will receive email notifications from both TLScontact and VFS Global. It is imperative that you carefully read all of these emails, as they may contain important instructions regarding the next steps in the application process.

Employers need to ensure that their employees or prospective recruits are aware of these changes and encourage them to inform the employer of any additional requirements. It is advisable to be prepared for potential minor disruptions during the transition, even though processing timeframes and decisions should not be affected.

In order to make sure that you are not missing updates, it is important to conduct regular checks of your spam or junk folders. Furthermore, to confirm the authenticity of these emails, ensure that the sender's email address ends with either @tlscontact.com or @vfsglobal.com.
